MahaRERA gives eligible projects 4 extra months — what buyers should know

MahaRERA has granted an automatic four-month extension to the completion timelines of eligible registered projects, citing supply-chain disruptions linked to the conflict in West Asia. The order followed a July 2026 advisory from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs asking state regulators to treat the situation as force majeure. It applies automatically to registered projects whose original, revised or previously extended completion dates fall on or after 28 February 2026. What it means for you: If your project qualifies, your builder's official RERA completion date can shift out by four months without any new consent from you. This is a regulatory extension, so it does not by itself mean your builder has done anything wrong, but it can push your possession further away. Check your project's registration page on the MahaRERA portal to see whether its completion date has been revised, and keep tracking whether construction is actually progressing on the ground.
